Boarding Staff

The boarding experience is a large part of the students’ overall development as they become involved in many social, educational, and relational opportunities. A structured boarding program teaches students how to manage their time, resources and social skills. Boarding students have the opportunity to interact with many students from different cultural backgrounds, ranging from Asia to Africa to North and South America. We provide a great learning opportunity for our students as well as an excellent place to develop and improve English language skills. Many life-long friendships are developed in the dormitories as students learn relational skills that will help them as they move on to university and their careers. Boarding students become part of a family and view NCC as a second home.

Meet our Dorm Staff Team:

Lucas Van Natter

Boarding Program Director

Lucas was born and raised in Fort Erie and attended NCC from grade 4 through to grade 12. Following high school, he played two years for Junior hockey in Aurora, Ontario before attending Manhattanville College located just outside New York City. Lucas played four years of hockey there while completing his undergraduate degree in Psychology. After graduation, he played one year of professional hockey in the Southern Professional Hockey League before returning to Canada to take a position at NCC. He lives on campus with his wife Ashley, daughter Emma-Jane, and son Kanaan. If he is not at work or spending time with his family, you’ll likely find Lucas out on the water fishing.

Ben Stark

Boys’ Dorm Assistant Director

Benjamin is a graduate of NCC's class of 2011. He went on to study at Niagara College and recently obtained his diploma in Hospitality Management. He is dedicated to ensuring that students not only grow academically but socially as well. He works diligently to create a home-away-from-home for students and sees that they have lots of fun while gaining a quality education.

Chantelle Collins

Girls’ Dorm Assistant Director

Miss Chantelle Collins has been part of our NCC dorm staff team since July 2017. She has a bachelor's degree in Child and Youth Studies and Psychology from Brock University. She went on to complete the Social Service Worker Program at Fanshawe College. While working she obtained her certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). Miss Collins looks forward to using both her educational background and workplace experience to invest in each of our students outside of the academic day. She has seen how God directs each year and looks forward to Her ongoing plans for our campus living programming.

Joel Gakwaya

Boys' Dorm Assistant

Joel first came to NCC as a student the summer of 2006 and graduated in June 2009. After his high school graduation, Joel attended Mohawk College and obtained a diploma in Business Insurance. He worked at NCC as the Boys’ Dorm Assistant Director from February 2014 - June 2017. As a campus-life staff, he enjoyed building relationships with students, playing sports with them, and making sure they felt at home. Joel is looking forward to being back on the team this year, but more importantly, making a positive impact in the lives of our students.

Cheryl Stevenson

Girls' Dorm Assistant

Cheryl's first encounter with NCC was when her son attended middle school here. She had no idea back then that she would be back years later working in dorm.  God is good! Cheryl's heart beats for youth; she has 30+ years experience working with several church youth groups and also Youth For Christ where she served as Acting Director at their youth center in Niagara Falls ON. She attended both Sheridan & Niagara College and also has a certificate in Christian Counselling. She is a professional drummer/percussionist and an avid nature lover. Lovingly referred to as "mama bear" by her dorm girls, Cheryl seeks to make each students' campus life experience a true home away from home with gentle guidance, compassion, respect and genuine love for each student.
