School Purpose Van Drivers

We are looking for dedicated and conscientious drivers to transport students to and from school, Monday to Friday, approxi 7:00-9:00 am, 3:00-5:00 pm, with potential for added shifts on weekends for extra curricular activities. We offer competitive wages and well maintained vehicles. These are considered part-time positions.

This position is ideal for retirees, or self-employed individuals with flexible schedules.

Drivers will be responsible for daily vehicle safety checks, communicating clearly and interacting with students, parents, school employees, co-workers and the public in a courteous and professional manner.

Drivers are required to hold a B or E class licence in ON, and have a clean driving record. Drivers will need to provide a vulnerable sector clearance and background check.

Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Niagara Christian Collegiate (NCC) Health Centre is currently looking for a Registered Nurse to join their interdisciplinary health care team serving the student community at NCC. This is currently a 12 hr position (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday- 8am- 12pm) with the possibility of moving to a part-time 18 hrs (Monday - Friday 8am- 12pm)  in the next school year (September 2019).

Job Summary

The NCC Health Centre exists to provide the highest level of on-campus episodic and primary health care in order to meet the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of our residential community. The Registered Nurse would work under the direction of the Health Centre Director within a collaborative model of care within the interdisciplinary team.

The role of the Registered Nurse within the NCC Health Centre requires a thorough knowledge of primary care nursing, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to function effectively and autonomously when needed. In addition, communication within the interdisciplinary team of health professionals, including a Nurse Practitioner/ Health Centre Director, Psychotherapist and administrative staff is required.

This position will be responsible for comprehensive nursing care as established by the standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario and according to policies and procedures as set out by the NCC Health Centre. Training will be provided.

The RN will also be a welcomed contributor to the ongoing development and delivery of the Health Centre as well as involvement with health promotion/education programs for all students on campus.

This important role requires an individual who is well organized, can work autonomously at times, has initiative and is a team player.

Hours of Work

Start Date:  Mid to Late February 2019.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (8:00 am to 12:00 pm).

Duties will include;

Episodic and primary care physical and mental health assessments and treatments (including but not limited to patient history, recording vitals, biometric measurements)

Triage of students to appropriate care, including on side Nurse Practitioner, urgent care, ER.

Clinical treatment including but not limited to injections, dressings, vaccine administration, suture/staple removal.

One- on- one, health education and support for students seen within the Health Center as well as health education classes and seminars within the group/classroom environment

Medication administration (daily and over the counter medications under medical directive) and safety

Assistance with the management/ordering/pick up of health center supplies and publicly funded vaccines from Public Health.

Participation as a clinical team member in the development and delivery of targeted programs including but not limited to health schools initiative, health education curriculum for student Grade 6- 12, smoking cessation, immunizations, mental health and addictions, sexual health and chronic disease.

Observing, collecting and recording patient data in the Electronic Medical Record.

Ability to increase hours in next school year to accommodate part time (18hr/ week) position.

Demonstrated excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Closely working with Office Manager in order to facilitate ease of student access to care and referrals and occasional office administrative tasks within Health Centre

Assisting NCC Health Director with policy and procedure development and with Health Centre Team in ongoing development and vision casting in meeting NCC healthcare needs.

Comply with established NCC HC personnel policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree (BScN) in Nursing.

Must be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

1-2 years of nursing experience preferred.

Demonstrated competence within the full scope of practice of a Registered Nurse in the provision of assessment, care, medications, interventions and documentation of care needs

Basic CPR certification.

Experience in pediatrics/adolescent population an asset.

Current Smoking Cessation Certificate preferred.

Public Health/health education/mental health experience beneficial.

Knowledge of community resources connected to the provision of health promotion and illness prevention related services as asset.

SafeTalk, ASIST and Mental Health First Aid Training an asset.

Current Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and willingness to actively participate in departmental educational activities.

Proven organizational and critical-thinking skills

Ability to function as an effective interdisciplinary team member.

Positive disposition, dependability and attendance record is essential.
